Is your IT Budget Strategically Aligned?

Looking back on 30 years of IT Consulting and MSP Experience, a common theme in most engagements has been the appropriateness of a firm's IT budget.

While many firms have their budgets right in terms of the percentage of revenue they can afford to spend on technology and support, the vast majority are spending it incorrectly. Inappropriately applied technology causes increased need for support, and this skews spending and focus away from useful and operations-supporting IT Spend, while dramatically increasing anxiety surrounding IT and lowering job satisfaction for your teams which always impacts client satisfaction.

These things just snowball over time, especially with more established firms whose IT has grown organically without a strategic IT plan in place. Many times this is due to a lack of internal IT leadership and the resulting overdependence on overworked and outsourced IT resources to make recommendations based on immediate needs, i.e. reactively.

What vCIO Ltd. does is a series of one-on-one stakeholder meetings and group-think sessions with a client in order to deeply understand their business goals and operational priorities, plus any pain points from a business perspective, not limited to IT. Once we get that level of synchronization with the leadership of a firm, we can create a logical and strategically aligned IT Blueprint that will accomplish those goals within their budget, using most of their existing vendors and technologies when appropriate.

Strategic Alignment is only one of the ways we can help a firm convert IT into a competitive advantage!
